I've read many complaints here, on the other Rickenbacker Forum, and on Harmony Central from players who have trouble accommodating to the narrow neck of the 330/12 and 360/12. I own a 330/12 and have had some minimal problems with some of the open chord fingerings. Several players have recommended the 660/12 because of its wider neck. I also understand that it comes stock with toaster top pickups.

How difficult and/or expensive would it be to find a new or used 660/12 in Fireglow? How would the sound differ from my 330/12 and (please excuse the inane question) what does a 660/12 look like?

The 660/12. Solid body, wider neck and I'm sure others will throw in additional info.

Availability appears to be just like any other RIC. I just did a quick search of my favorite on line dealers and noted that three of them indicated that they at least one 660/12 in stock.

They are petite size. The 660 bodies are much smaller than their 300-series cousins... even though they have the wide neck.

A side bit, I really enjoy the great tonal variance I have on my 660-12 compared to my 360-12 and they both have Toasters. Maybe it is something to do with the engineering and science of the neck pickup placement and string length on the 660 compared to the 360 ? .... I don't know the reason, but I really enjoy the solo neck pickup tone/sound solo on my 660 and I prefer the two pickups together on my 360 model.
