This may be an old topic but it seems that the new PU's look different than the ones on my old 360/12. Which of the new models have the old style toaters.
Do the new PU's sound the same?

it seems RIC has gone to using one standard coil form for all the pickups which is a toaster style (note the two elongated raised areas) with cover on or off. then they insert the various magnets or metal screws for guitar or bass. i've heard the newer pickups are more powerful than the old days.

As time goes on, I like the sound of "modern" Rickenbacker pickups less and less (compared to pre-1973).

When cranked up, only a vintage Toaster can give **that** sound.

true...i love all my toasters, but my '73 neck higain is up there too ! i just bought a '75 neck higain off ebay to fill an empty higain ring and bottom plate i had lying around. it measures 8k. (basses, that is !)

I find that the high gains have much more mid-range and lows, the toasters in my 360v64 -if they are examples of 'old'- are far chimey-er and have much more upper range frequencies -
