Chris Hillman w/ Manassas

Post by rickosound »

Great song, good video, good performance. Dig the Gretsches.
The Byrds did their reunion album in this same time frame and, supposedly, Hillman was in and out of the sessions because he was performing with Manassas. This was unfortunately true of the others as well, except for Gene Clark, who delivered his best available songs to the album, and was hoping this album would revitalize his career. This is reported in Mr. Tambourine Man, the book about Gene Clark that has been discussed elsewhere on this forum.

I remember listening to that album at the campus radio station when I was in college. Manassas was one of the groups that steered me toward folk/country/SoCal/Bakersfield/whateveryouwanttocallit rock. Thanks for posting this vid.
