If you want to learn some Beatles tunes the way they were really done, I haven't seen anything like this crazy good dude on YouTube. He plays rhythm, lead, bass, piano, and even drums. He is more accurate than anybody I've ever seen. He's only 22 years old and has about 80 videos on YouTube:

There are three videos on "Blackbird" -- one shows the whole song the right way, and the other two break down Paul's unique fingerpicking style.

Thanks for posting this Charlie. I had seen his video on playing guitar like George. Quite a talented young man.

That's one of the few places where I disagree with his analysis. We have to cut him some slack because he is so young and didn't live through all that.

But to my mind the final phase of George's playing with the Beatles was heavily influenced by Eric Clapton. The early solos were really influenced by Chet Atkins, who both produced and played on all of the old Everly Brothers albums. Then he started listening to Indian sitar music, which shaped his playing. But then he became friends with Clapton and hung out a lot. I just don't think the solos on Abbey Road -- either "Something" or George's part in "The End" would have sounded like that without Slowhand's influence.

But that's just picking nits. The guy is super-talented and has an incredible ear. Plus I think he's spent a lot of time watching the various video footage. I'd love to hear 80 more videos from him!

It's always sounded to me like two different guitars, and two different soloists, as in John does the first and George does the second, both live and in the studio. When played through a Vox AC50 or AC100, both the RIC and the Gretsch sound quite similar to each other.

Just from a stylistic standpoint, I am going with George for the second solo. I could be wrong. I'd like to listen with headphones but I can't find mine right now...
