Where is that last one of John from, with the caption at the bottom saying "he reverted to his Rickenbacker guitar from the mid 60s" ? Typically, when they were photographed with their instruments,they were usually wearing Beatle outfits of some sort, or suit and tie, etc. And here he is, casual attire, in a sweater and jeans. Is it from a recording studio ?

That's why John had the strings all over the place, so he could do exactly that, put his ciggy on the string ends. George did it and so did many other guitarists of the day, Clapton and Keith Richards come to mind.

Dangly string ends are remarkably handy to have around, but being as clumsy as I am - I usually wind up getting stabbed by the things My fingers take on a particularly hypodermic appearance after I've been re-stringing ...
