Which Strap Locks for my new 620/6

Hey everyone..

Is there a specific strap lock that is suggested for my new 620/6 ?

One guy at my local retailer was saying he thought the Schaller screws were a perfect match for the button that's stock on the guitar.. where he thought the Dunlops were a bit bigger screw..

I have Dunlop strap locks on 3 other guitars.. and my one nice strap.

So I would kind of prefer to just put Dunlop buttons on my 620/6..and could used my strap on any guitar..

but I don't want to use a new button.. where the screw reams out the screw hole.. making is so I couldn't swap back to stock if ever needed or wanted.

If the Schallers are a better match.. then I'd just have to buy those..and get another strap. dedicated to this guitar. That's be another $75 .. ! ( when I just kinda tapped the Guitar fund.. just to buy the guitar ! ).. but I'm spoiling the RIC.. so it'll get what it wants!

Any tips appreciated,..
tnx,
M

The strap buttons on Rickenbacker guitars are compatible with the Schaller strap lock system. Buy a Schaller set, and you'll have an extra set of buttons for a non-Rick guitar.

oh. excellent.

Since the buttons are already compatible with Schaller.. I won't have to change anything on the guitar.. which is the best option - I like to keep something as unique as a RIC.. stock.. if possible

Still means I'll need a new strap.. but that's OK.. I will be able to use it with another guitar.

Maybe that's my sign that I really DO need to get the 620/12 .. TOO.. .. then I can use the new strap on THREE guitars.. by just buying one set of Schaller strap locks.. -- like my logic?? )

Thanks for the help,

Mark

Kris is absolutely right. Just buy a set of the Schaller 446 chrome locks and you're all set. The Rickenbacker strap button has the bigger-diametered machine screw treaded part instead of the conventional pointy wood screw type. I'd suggest keeping them stock.

Thanks Paul! and thanks for the photos,.

I'm going to get a set of Schallers ASAP.

Good timing.. just received a letter from Guitar Center, saying they noticed I hadn't been in for a while to purchase anything.. so they say I have a $20 promotional gift card just by going into the store... which will get me my new Schaller 446 chrome locks!

( and I might just check out their selection of good straps while I'm at it.. so I guess they're promotion worked! )

Thanks for the assistance,
Mark

If they haven't got Schallers, I believe the Fender locks are the same, just rebranded. That's what I seem to remember buying for my 650.

I don't know if they're the same, but I can confirm that the Fenders work. Just tried them the other night, with a brand new 330.

I happen to have an extra set of the Schaller locks floating around and just tried this and I'm not sure if this will work -

They do fit over the buttons, but the buttons have a flat face, rather than the dimple found on the Schaller button. So, unless I am missing something, its not going to lock. I guess as long as its oriented right, the weight of the guitar will keep the strap from coming off.
