Double Bound Fever

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
“A pandemic (from Greek πᾶν pan "all" + δῆμος demos "people") is an epidemic of infectious disease that is spreading through human populations across a large region; for instance a continent, or even worldwide.”

A curious phenomena has been happening in RRF circles:

Rich. There’s a V64 Fever in the UK at the moment I’m sure there will be a few more surfacing.

So, we're double bound to see a few more arrivals?

A quick count on the RRF Search function indicates more than 50 postings with the words “Double Bound”, just since Christmas ! This phenomena perhaps might lead to the World Health Organization or the Center for Disease Control decreeing that a pandemic has broken out ….. since it does not appear to be stable and is occurring simultaneously in many countries.

Alas, I am the next casualty here who has been suffering from Double Bound fever. I have been negotiating with a Craig’s List seller for three months – finally last night - the deal was done ! The fever has been broken ! Our local Double Bound Connoisseur, Paul A., joined me to check it out and finalize the transaction.
It’s a real closet classic….. manufactured in Sept 1981, this 370 WB has spent the last fifteen years in the seller’s closet, because he could never quite adjust to the narrow neck and long scale of a Ric and he preferred the wider neck and short scale of a Gibson. He was the second owner. The neck is perfect, the action is fantastic and there are no scratches, dings, chips or other ugly things. A well preserved beauty. The bridge has been flipped around backasswards – maybe somebody inexperienced was changing the strings ?? Does not appear to be anything serious.

We had to spray the switches and knobs with some lubricant last evening and now all it needs is some tender loving care and Scratch X – Zymol treatment to remove 29 years of grime and get it ready for the next Mini Con jam !!!

If you get the Double Bound fever – there is only one cure !!!

Har, yes, Scott, I am a clean cut (looking) man again.

The guitar is amazingly clean. Opening the case and holding the guitar was like opening a time capsule. The action is nice and low, and it sounds great. Not really a single mark on the finish; a mint condition guitar! Even the case is spotless!Congrats again, Rich! :D

I need to take a trip to SoCal, that's where all the Rics are at! Here in the Big Easy, it's mostly MIM standard Fenders, Epiphones, Wal Mart copies and custom-made guitars, and everything is solid-body. :P (I am not knocking any of the mentioned brands, but rather informing on what I mostly see)

Congrats, Rich! Hope you like it. How does it play? Was it set up when you got it?

It is funny I was just saying the same thing on the phone yesterday to Collin!!

All the great under the bed RICS are in California! Makes sense since they make 'em there and the population is so high.. More guitar players over the years who coveted them!

Congrats to Rich on the new 370 too... I love Jetglo - my favorite finish by a mile
