Fess Parker has died at age 85. I'm going to have "Davy, Davy Crockett, king of the wild frontier" playing in my head today. Even though I was born after the 50's, Disney showed "Davy Crockett" and his other work like Daniel Boone plenty of times throughout the 60s and 70s. Sure brings back memories.

I just saw this. I remember watching the Davy Crockett films on the Disney Channel when I was growing up. My younger brother always had to get a new coonskin cap whenever we'd go to Disney World. He always seemed to be such a genuinely classy man and his winery produces some great product. It's another actor from that generation, like Peter Graves.

wow, RIP.

I was a BIG fan as a child, sad to hear this.

(It's been a bad week death-wise...seems like a lot of people kicking the bucket lately).

Sumpin' else. Davy, Davy Crockett.

His parents used to live across the street from me in Fort Worth, and everytime he came to visit his folks kids would pack the street and front yard just waiting for autographs or a chance to see him. I saw him only once, before moving.

RIP Fess.

Yup, mine too. I remember the coonskin cap craze, but I especially remember never missing an episode of Daniel Boone. RIP, Fess.

RIP Fess. As Stan mentioned he was from Fort Worth...His obit in the paper today said he never grew tired of people telling him Daniel Boone or Davy Crockett stories. I loved those shows when I was a kid.

Yep, me too. I hadn't thought about those shows in decades, but hearing the news brought back a lot of memories...

RIP :(

Rugged man, and it spounds like he had a nice, quiet, retired life in wine country. :)
