Do you consider yourself to be a player, a collector, a little of both, or something else altogether?

I am just a player even though I do have a collection of guitars and basses that are all players............if you get my drift.

I can't think of anybody that collects guitars that doesn't play them (though that has been a problem in the Les Paul community in the past).
Around here.....not so much!

I guess I'm both. I want my guitars to be clean, if that makes sense. The 1997 that Ron O'Keefe sold me was in near mint condition when I bought it, but after chipping the paint with bumps to the chair and dropping a harmonica onto the treble horn, I learned that I don't really care that much, because it's not going anywhere. My '62 AVRI Strat looks like it's been to hell and back, but it isn't going anywhere. The V64 has seen better days, but it isn't going anywhere either. My Jazz bass is in a bit better condition than the guitars because I don't play it as frequently (even though I do play it every day).
I would rather my 360/12V64 to a 360/12 Carl Wilson or a 370/12 McGuinn because V64's are easier to ding up and scratch than a Wilson or McGuinn. Should a non-repairable accident happen to my V64 (perish THAT thought!), it is also easier to replace.
I remember seeing a eBay auction on either a 325C64 or 360/12C63 and a bidder wrote to the seller and said, "I am asking this question as merely a Beatles fan and not a guitar player, [insert inquiry here]", and I thought (and still think) that it's odd to buy a guitar and not play it. All three of my guitars plus my bass and my Fender amp get played and used at least once a day.

I am both.... I play all of my guitars, although I certainly have favorites in my collection that get played more often. Some are rarely played because of their pristine condition and high value, and hopefully their value will continue to increase.... I will rue the day I have to sell them to make it through "retirement," although I am glad to be able to play and enjoy them now.

A bit of both. I got my Rm to play, and played it out for many years... But since the value of them has gone a bit silly, I limit its public appearences to places that I'm fairly certian that it is not going to get knocked over (or off).
I have my beat up 74 4001 for the rough stuff.
I do however have 3 waterstone basses and I'm not sure why. One should be enough, but I could not decide which would be the first to go if I were to sell any of them..

Both for me. I have a strong guitar collection and play them all, however, I don't gig with them all.

Both for me. I'll gig with any of my basses. There just might be particular venues that I don't care to bring certain ones to.

I guess I'd have to classify myself as both, though lately I've collected a few things I have no idea how to play... yet...
