Deglossing Agents

Paul: I am painting over some old lacquered cabinets. I want to use a deglossing agent. Will a heavy strength TSP be adequate or can you suggest a product line? I would dearly love to avoid sanding.

Peter, don't know how I missed your question...sometimes I don't get notifications immediately...

Very strong TSP is what I have used on wood before, and seems to work OK for interior use.

There is a product made by Jasco (and, I would assume, others, too) that is a chemical. solvent-type deglosser. I tried it years ago on a remodeling project similar to yours, and it didn't work very well.

Good luck!
