No more damning statement about our 'post modern' culture could be offered up than Simon Cowell's on-air admission that Aretha Franklin could not win on "American Idol" because she doesn't 'look like a star'. Well to me, Whitney Houston, although she would undoubtedly take first prize on Cowell's show, does not 'sound like a singer'.
I didn't get where I am today by being on time...

I think it says more about Simon Cowell's agenda than post modern culture.
