Higher output on my 74 neck-pickup compared to treble-pickup

Hi!
I have Higher output on my 74 neck-pickup compared to the treble-pickup, on my 77 they are matching each other good. So on my 74 I have to roll off a bit on the bas-volume so that they match fine.
Is this normal, or could a cap on the neck-pickup be broken. By the way, the neck pickup on my 77 is rewound. There is more bass/low end on my 74 then the 77.
Looking forward to answers
Regards

I take it the bridge pickup height has been adjusted to taste? The only cap for the neck pickup is the tone cap which should not be an issue here. Given the rewound pickup on the '77 maybe that is what is making the two neck pickups seem different.

The two pickups on my '75 are pretty close in output, so I would check the bridge pickup height like Jeff suggested and also consider bypassing the .0047uF cap going to the volume control for the bridge pickup. Just short across the cap leads with a short wire.

For what it's worth the Hi-Gains that came from my 1976 were set up so the neck pickup had about 2,000 ohms of resistance more than the bridge pickup.

Thanks Folks!
I have the push-pull switch on the treble, and I have tried to adjust the height. I will try again today, could just be because the neck pickup is closer to the neck?? In a place were the string swing more..??
Thanks

All the 70's guitars and basses I've ever played or owned had that same issue, it's normal.

Yeah, come to think of it I played a 72 that was this way.
