A rockabilly buddy hipped me to her. Anyone know who the guitar player is? Josie is located in Orange County, CA so maybe we could get him to the Mini-Con!

My buddy thinks the axe mans name is Mark Neill. Anyone know him?
The Rick axe-man is Mark Neill, and he is a producer of some note. I spoke to him this morning, and he's going to try to make the SoCal Mini-Con.

Very cool...I'd almost swear he's has a B Bender on that guitar

Mark says he has a ton of Rickenbacker and F. C. Hall stories, and George; Mosrite and Semie Moseley stories too. We're going to meet for lunch next week. I can't wait. He really got my attention in the short time we spoke this morning.

That would be cool - a 381 with a B-Bender!

Sounded to me like he was bending more than the B string. Those lead breaks were great!

I'll make a list of questions to ask Mark when we have lunch. Post yours here and I'll add 'em. He's in the middle of putting a record together, but when I told him about the Mini-Con, he was pretty stoked about coming.

I talked to Mark today and mentioned that more than a few people thought he had a B-bender on his 381. He does those bends with his fingers and an Accent vibrato. I'm meeting him at his studio Thursday for a demonstration.

That's some seriously cool pickin'! On that tune, ("Crazy Carnival Ride"?) I didn't hear anything that sounded like a B-bender, and I'm familiar with B-benders--I've got one in one of my Teles--what I did hear was some killer rockabilly picking, tasty vibrato-bar work and great tone. Is that 381 a reissue? If I could have gotten my old '72 381 to sound that good, I'd still have it! And what kind of amp was he using on that? Inquiring minds want to know...

Mark says he was playing through the house amp which he remembered as being a 4 X 10 Fender Blues DeVille. His only effects were the amps reverb and a Boss RV-3 Rev/Delay set for a single slap-back. I'll try to get more info on the guitar, but I doubt if it's a reissue. He got it when F. C. Hall was still living.
