Stereo leaking?

I used my ric`o sound stereo-kit, splitting the pickups on my 77 4001bass. the Bass went to a peavy rig and the treble to a orange rig. I turned off the orange rig and switch the pickup selector on my my bass to treble and I could hear a weak signal but loud enough to hear, so it wasnt muted 100%!! anybody with the same problem/experience?

Regards

Pretty sure that's normal.

I think what that is is some kind of weak physical contact between the lugs that separate the pickups prior to the mono switch. Depending on how the jack was installed--there's a bit of an art to it, and to the mono as well due to its ROS on/off capacity--you could have some very slight contact going on. None of my "factory fresh" basses do this but my 1976 4001FL, that I had to rewire on my own, has this "problem"... I could spend hours trying to fix it but for me the time investment isn't worth it right now.

I think it is more of an acoustic coupling through the wood of the bass.

I believe the bleed is normal - don't think it is a true isolated stereo output.

At first it startled me a bit. But after playing around with ROS a while, I've gotten to the place where I think it's kinda cool; especially when I turn on my flanger.

they share ground, so its crosstalk.

Definitely normal. I was experiencing the same thing and had Chris at POTR check it out when he had my '78 for a set-up - he sampled a few other ones in the store and they were all doing the same thing. Very minor though - nothing that gets in the way of anything.

Well it sure seems to add to the jangle and chime if you run ROS and each pickup through a compressor. Love it.

Weird that everyone thinks this is so normal. It only happens with me on my 4001FL, which I rewired myself... the other basses that have stock wiring don't have any leakage at all. I keep trying to hear it on any of them... and I can't.

I use a stereo cable rather than the ROS box, so I get no bleed. I can see why one would with the ROS though.

uh it would be just as bad in either case.
