Arthur Lee and Love deserve a forum of thir own..at the very least. For me, the best band (yes including the Doors) to come out of the LA scene in the late 60's. I got to see the original line up several times as the band (Arthur didn't want to travel) at LA spots including the infamous Bido Litos. Love's first three Lp's are required listening for anyone at all interested in this era. Their first (self titled) Lp is very garage/folk rock but with a dark side..Their second Lp Da Capo added horns and power pop sensibilities save for the classic 7&7 IS and the epic Revelation a VERY long tune that took the Stones Goin Home a bit further on. The third Lp.."Forever Changes" was the bands Sgt Peppers if you will with horns, strings and remarkable songwriting and imagery
Not much video footage out there with the original lineup (which included Bryan MacLean) whose sister Maria later fronted the band Lone Justice.
I'll post a couple of videos here that feature Arthur a few years back with the band Baby Lemonade .
My instro band does a cover of Loves guitarist Johnny Echols surf styled tune " Emotions"..no vid of that so in a moment of total self promotion the last video will be my band with the help of the singer from Hugelarge doing 7&7 Is.
