This is my upate of photos since my bass has been set up, strings changed, and all polished up. The fretboard is like a piece of glass now. My new luthier did a great job and for cheap too!!
When I picked it up, it almost looked like new and it plays perfect. I didn't even know it,but the mute was a little messed up so he fixed that too and now the bass is 100%. Wow, it stays in tune..

My first thread was a couple of months ago when I first joined and showed pics of my" new" 1997 Ric 4003. These basses are very hard to take pics of. Anyway, when I was looking it over, I am certain that this bass must have ambered in the 13 years since it was new. The binding is nice and creamy and contrasts alot to the white pickguard and trc and I think the natural maple center is darkening nicely. I'm glad I was actually able to make my first Rick one with my dream color and wow does she roar!
Anyway...onto the updated pics!

what a total piece of ****! Just kidding. It looks like a brand new bass. Is the fireglow that dark in person? Just curious because I love the hue of it. Very nice!

Very pretty! Almost looks like the "Amber Fireglo" Color of the Year from 2006.

It actually is that dark in person. This is the first time I've really been able to get a pic that truly shows it. Turning the flash off helped.

Thanks alot guys. Most people keep asking if it's amber fireglo. The only way I know it isn't is because they hadn't made it yet. I guess it's just ambering

the good ol fashioned way!

Haha.. Thanks! I don't think he used anything special. It was already a pretty shiny bass to begin with, but he shined the heck outta the fretboard and the frets.. I couldn't be happier. It waws good before, but now it's tip top 100% in looks and function! I am loving it!

Looks great, Peacefrog. All dressed up for the photo shoot, including the pickup cover. I have always liked that look, though I keep the cover off of my 4001.

Do you happen to know what the frets were cleaned with?

Hey bluewhale. I'm not sure what he used. I'm gettin galot of questions about what he used to clean this beat. I think I'll call him tomorrow and ask. I know he masked off the entire fretboard and frets and cleaned them separately. I'll let you guys know!
