Newly formed '77 Sandman will be making our debut in late June. The occasion will be my 50th birthday celebrations.
Playing mainly Aussie hit songs of the 70's and 80's with a smattering of worldwide one-hit wonders and some songs from international bands of the era.
Featuring Darren Trott on drums, myself on rythym guitar, Glenn Allen on lead guitar, Walter on bass, with the vocal talent of Joe McLachlan out front. Glenn has an amazing array of guitars including a JG330 + JG360/12, Walter is the proud owner of a brand new FG4003, whereas i use mainly my 330JG as well. Plenty there for the RICK lover.
The band have been rehearsing for approx. 6 months now, looking forward to our first outing.
The name of the band derives from a very popular make of Holden(GM) panelvan car, primarily used to pick up chicks.
Will keep you all posted.

Congrats on the great looking lineup of your new band Greg and Darren. I know you two will have fun at the debut. That goes without saying.

Now I'll have to form a band called "Hey Charger"
Thats a cool name for a band! Aussie Crawl songs would be a must for a band with this name!
Eden.
There is a band called "The p76".....

Eden,
the Aussie Crawl songs don't seem to be working for us, so we've gone with The Angels, Split Enz, Rose Tattoo, Sunnyboys and the Hoodoo Gurus. Add The Beatles, Cheap Trick and , of course AC/DC and we have a fairly good setlist at present.

I must add that Howard has contributed his expertise.
He has graciously lent his time and PA equipment for the night.
Thanks everyone for your good wishes, i'll be sure to report back, hopefully with some video of the night!

Howard's not lending out his beer?
Good to see he can do the other side of the equation, too.

A pic from last nights debut for '77 Sandman.
A truly memorable evening, my thanks to the band for their dedicated hard work.
Opening with our version of "Crunchy grenola suite", we could hear gasps, in amazement, from the audience.
20 songs and 2 sets later we finished with an AC/DC classic, complete with bagpipes.
With the dancefloor filled, the 100 strong crowd chanted for an encore.
Howard, you did a brilliant job as PA/soundman, and we thank-you for your work.
Not sure exactly what video is available, but as soon as it is sorted, i'll let you know.
