Guitars vs Basses

Being new to the Rickenbacker scene, I was curious as to whether anyone knew, from a sales standpoint, if the Rick guitars sold more than the basses do? I was curious as to which one of the two were more popular. I know that Lennon played a Rickenbacker guitar.

Basses rule, guitars drool. That's what this is about right??

Er... I think basses sell a bit more in the overall matchup. JH said that once on the corp. forum a few years ago. It probably changes over time. The interesting thing to me is that guitars seem to move a little more slowly (from what I can tell because I can always find guitars in stock, not always basses), and RIC seems to have a more diverse guitar lineup right now than bass lineup.

I think the problem is that they offer so many different guitar models, confuses those poor guitar players such that they can't decide what to buy...

I wasn't expecting a legitimate question. I was prepared and had my bass boxing gloves out.

How many bass players does it take to change a light bulb?
One, but the guitar player has to show him how to do it.

I had the impression that they sell way more basses than guitars. Maybe because the bass playing forumites here seem to outnumber the guitar players by a hefty margin ... I could be wrong, though.

Actually, they sell way more basses because us forum members buy 'em all...

CJ, I believe that you alone have enabled RIC to meet their quota for the Northern Plains area.

Yeah, of all Ricks in the register located in Montana, I own 40% of the non CI's and 26% of all of 'em...

Wouldn't surprise me if the basses way outsold the guitars. Ric basses have found acceptance in nearly all styles of music (pop, jazz, prog, metal, not sure about country), whereas the guitars tend to get pigeonholed into niche styles (British Invasion pop, jangle-pop, etc).

Which would be fine by me. It's probably helped keep the company strongly in business while the guitars go in and out of style.

I know JH addressed this at one point a few years ago. I believe that there's been many years where it was basses by far, but I thought he said the 330 was the most produced instrument in production right now?
I know my local Rick dealer has several 360s and 330s on hand (and had the same five or so for a couple of months), but the two or three times I've seen a Rick bass in the last year they're gone within a day or two.
