Great. How cute.

All the autotune Kanye-West style hip-hop jams in the world won't clean up the PR mess of their gas pedals sticking and killing people.

Toyota cleared of all sudden acceleration claims

"the U.S. Department of Transportation has concluded that the real culprit is driver error.
Investigators analyzed data recorders from numerous Toyota vehicles, says the Wall Street Journal, and each car’s throttle was fully depressed while the brakes were not actuated at all. To make matters clearer, of the 75 fatal accidents blamed on unintentional or sudden acceleration, only one shows the vehicle as being the cause of the incident. In this his incident, where a Lexus ES 350 killed a California Highway officer and three passengers in August of last year, a sticking floor mat was blamed. Toyota quickly recalled all floor mats that could potentially cause a similar problem, and no similar issues have been reported. Incidentally, Toyota Canada uses different floor mats and had no similar problems.

Additionally, the U.S. Transportation Department officials went on record to say that they haven’t found any electronic problems with Toyota vehicles that could have lead to an unintended/sudden acceleration accident. Only the floor mat issue and a problem with sticky accelerator pedals, which were slow to return, have been noted as potential problems, and these have been dealt with via recalls. "

Let's see if the major news organizations cover this as heavily as they did the problems. Oh, wait, they aren't in a rate-setting ratings period....

Doesn't really matter. Their main purpose these days seems to be to incite hysteria, and a story such as this would do the exact opposite. So...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

It's all about the ratings, CJ. Higher ratings, higher ad prices, more income. They have to stop paying stupid prices to cover sports.

Here in L.A., everytime there's a black/white - cop/victim trial, the local news stations give the verdict tons of coverage and say things like, "Police are ready for any violence that may occur. Let's cut to a demonstration that is currently going on to see how people are feeling about this verdict". They remember all the great 24/7 coverage from the Rodney King glory days and want to repeat it. It's really pathetic and transparent. They thrive on the looting, killings, and destruction.
What have we become?

Amen to those posts.

The new IPhone reception "problem" is the next "stuck accelerator" hysteria, though it's unlikely Apple could be accused of criminal negligence for getting someone killed due to bad phone reception.

I wouldn't mind having a swagger wagon; might be easier to stuff more gear into at the next minicon. . . .

NOPE. The NHTSA has said that this nonsense was put out by Toyota's own PR machine.

I don't get it. All the iPhone whiners have to do is buy a cover available at every store or kiosk in the nation.
