Rickresource Rickenbacker Forum

Hi All,
Another newbie to the forum. I just purchased a used 4003s and can't wait for it to arrive. It's great to be a Rickenbacker owner once again!I used to own a '78 4001 that I bought new and used as my main bass though several bands over a 10 year period. Then I sold it to raise some much needed cash at the time and have regretted it ever since. So, finally my wait is almost over.... I'm on the lookout for the UPS truck.
I've been lurking around the forum over the past few months and have learned so much about Ricks that I never knew. This forum is great and It was very helpful in my search for a used bass.
Looking forward to hangin' with all of you like minded Rickenbacker afficianados.

Congrats on your return to the Rickenfold. I've always managed to keep at least one around, and for the past five years...well, let's just say I have a few...

Oh, and I'm calling you out; where's your location? Post your `20! (old CB lingo) Are you in So Cal? We can always use one more bassist for the bi-monthly Rickenjams. Scott can usually only manage 3 hours max, which usually means that poor Joey plays his fingers raw. This last time Pat Hayes did yeoman work, as did Tom "BeatByrd", so if you're local, Uncle Rickensam wants you for the jams! Check out the "So Cal Minicon" thread: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=394331

Thanks for the hearty welcome, guys. I'd love to jam with ya sometime but I'm north of Boston. So. Cal would be a long commute. (I did used to live near Marina del Ray about 25 years ago....but then rambled back home.)

I'll post some pics ASAP. It's an '89 Mapleglo 4003s w/black trim. Very similar to johnallg's. While I can appreciate the look of binding and triangle inlays, I've always loved the dots and contoured body. Macca, Roger Waters, and Chris Squire were all big influences on me when I first picked up a bass back in the '70's and for that reason I've always wanted that look. Don't get me wrong, I loved my '78 4001 (RG3922) and I'd love to locate her again. (I'll check the registry)
It may be time for a new topic but I'll throw it out just for initial reaction from the group but would it be a mistake to try and change the trim over to a white trc/pickguard and chrome hardware? I think that's the look I'm going for but just couldn't spring for a V63.
