Saw him and The Magic Band many moons ago..The Mothers, Linda Ronstadt were also on the bill..as I recall they all recorded for the same label at that time and it was some sort of showcase event for the label..much of the audience went into the lobby for a smoke during the Captin's set..funny as most were there to see Zappa

I love Beefheart, especially w/ the Magic Band; one of my favorite records ever is Shiny Beast/Bat Chain Puller.
