Bill Lewis and His Connection to The Dark Side of The Moon

In 1966 I purchased an old Gibson Les Paul Junior SG style. (see the pic from our Canadian tour in 1975 below)
I immediately decided that I needed a neck pickup installed on it. I approached Bill Lewis who was a prominent luthier in Vancouver BC and together we explored what could be done to my sweet little guitar. He suggested adding a custom made humbucker that he was experimenting with and described the sound that I should expect from it.
I trusted Bill for a variety of reasons and so I decided to go along with his idea. The end result was a very special sounding guitar that I still cherish to this day.
Here is just a small peek into the life of Bill Lewis, who was a good friend and an amazing luthier. If you follow these links you will discover just how great a luthier he became. Unfortunately little has been documented about his work. Besides being a super nice man he had an extremely interesting life and I would like more people to be aware of Bill and his contribution to music that many of us love.
Here is his David Gilmour connection:

The following story has photos of Bill and provides keen insight into the man and his amazing ability to understand what makes an instrument special.
