The Byrds Collective have just finished recording 3 new Byrds covers. We did have a version (one of our first recordings) of Turn! Turn! Turn! but decided to re-record it because of our new drummer, and frankly, we have gotten better at making our recordings.
We'd be very interested in hearing any and all comment! Thanks!

Pat..... all 3 songs sound fantastic. I especially liked AIRWTD. Mark does a great McGuinn voice on that. Very impressive; all of them! I'm looking forward to more songs. Tom

Really fantastic job, guys! You have a great placement and surety of the harmony placements, and the RIC 12 rings with rich authority. TTT sounds spot on. Thank you for these timeless. beautiful sounds living again in 2010. Bravo!

Gary, Donnell and of course Jim, thank you so much for listening and taking the time to comment. Comments from the RRF community are always highly considered. And knowing what a great fan and expert of the Byrds you are Jim, we consider your praise our
Grammy
. Thanks again.
BTW the recordings were done at a local rehearsal studio and Dave's garage. No professional studio was used.

Well said, Gary !!!
And that's excellent recording guys, considering you did not use a professional studio !
Glad to hear that your Memorial Day weekend performances in Santa Monica and the Coach House were a success !!

Wow, you guys are very, very good. You do have TTT down and those harmonies are right in there...close and smooth. The recordings are excellent.
Thanks for sharing.

I think they all sound fantastic! I'd probably be as likely to play them as the originals (I know, heresy! Watch me get pelted at the next jam). I especially like "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere". That number is just beautiful. I think it's my favorite one. That B-bender is sweet, well, the whole song is.

Thanks.

The chime-y riffs really stand out; makes me want to install "Scat" toasters in my 381/12, and maybe add a 3rd pickup.
Keep up the good work!
Oh, question. Is your new drummer on the recording the drummer I met at the jam? Just wondering; he's super solid!
I hope the guys want to come to the next jam.

Paul,
Yes that's Dave Denk the new drummer on those three songs. We're busy working him in, recording new tunes and playing our scheduled gigs. He's really working out well. And a pleasure to work with!
