Strings: 10s v. 11s

Does anyone else prefer 10s on their Ric, but play with 11s on their other guitars? I love the 11s on my Strat, allows me to dig in and play aggressive. But on my Ric 330, I go back and forth between liking the 11s and hating them. Then I switch to 10s for a while and eventually my mind says "you like 11s on everything else, put them on the 330". I then give in
Anyone else experience this? I think I'm going for 10s on the Rickenbacker full time, just for difference's sake.

I've played with 11s on my Strat and my Gretsch Silver Jet, but the local guitar tech has always insisted on using nothing heavier than 10s on my ricks, so that's what I use. I usually use a 10-52 set on all of my non-Ricks these days; easier bends.

Mine arrived from the PO with 0.010s. Hated those, bumped it up to 0.011s. Better, but I wasn't happy until I got to 0.012s.
Don't let your tech scare you off of beefier gauges -- Ric uses the same neck for 12-strings, doncha know.

I used to use 11s on everything. I started using 10s on the Ricks and love it. I even started using 10s on other gutiars and like them. The hard part is finding wound G's. I don't think I'll ever like plain G's.
I still always use flat wound 12's on my Casino though.

I used to buy a set that offered the option of a .017 plain or a .020 wound G in the set. The brand name escapes me at the moment.

I like the 10s... they just feel better on the shiny fretboard. I've been trying to discipline myself to let the amp do more of the work.

I prefer the Rickenbacker compressed wound set of 10's on my 6-string RICS with a wound .018 G string. The wound G-string intonates better, probably because it's larger in diameter than the 17-plain, and therefore, does not fret sharp since it stretches less (stiffer) when fretting. My choice for a wound G-string is a D'Addario nickel-wound in .018. I just simply substitute the wound .018 string for the plain .017. The .018 wound string mates well with the RIC compressed-wound set.

I use .010 to .046 (plain 3rd) set on all my Rickenbacker 6 strings, except the little 325JL (.012-.054).
I favor D'Addario XL110 sets, but right now my '65 365 has D'Addario Stainless Steel 1/2rounds on it (set 430). Good feeling, loud, long-lasting strings!

I usually use 11s but 10s are fine too. But not 9s!

.010s on the 1997 and the Strat. I think I'll try .011s on the Strat for the next string change. It needs to get set up for action, intonation and truss rod anyway, so I'll just have my guitar tech do it.

I use 10s on all mine except my '66 335, which only likes 9s for some reason!

I prefer an 11-46 set on my 330, and the POTR 12 set on my 360/12.
The 11s just seem to work better for me, had 9s on it once for 5 min and couldn't believe how awful that felt.

Hope it's OK to bump up an older post. I was curious if anyone else plays 11s or higher on everything EXCEPT their Ric. I've spent a few days going to war with my Tele and Strat, banging out chords with 11s, wondering why I don't have them on my Ric
