Spotted this on evil Bay. I especially like this from the description:

"I wanted to put together a Rick that I thought they should be making. One that plays as good as it sounds, and looks as good as it plays."

Most of the significant parts are identical to a production Rickenbacker, and the big differences are one Rick humbucker in lieu of a toaster, no middle pup, and no blend control, and yet he claims he's built the guitar that RIC "should be making", and one that plays as good as it sounds (implying a standard Rick doesn't).

Yeah, that's a real pity. Could be restored, I guess, but won't regain its original value.

Yeah it's a carcass with an incomplete set of (somewhat correct) parts installed.

In other words this guy's a genius John Hall should hire him immediately!!!

Of course, he's right! I'm sure, at least in his opinion, RIC should be making a guitar where he makes some money on the sale...

...purchased from Rickenbacker junkman and chop-shop "gibsonpartsdependable" in New Jersey, who is one of the unintentionally most transparent and funniest liars/manipulators I've run across on eBay:

I was the buyer in a case recently which involved "gibson parts dependable" (who is a really irritating jerk, BTW). After nearly 3 weeks, when I didn't receive my item, I asked him for a tracking number. No tracking number--he sent it regular mail. I threatened negative feedback if he didn't cough up.

Then I filed a Paypal claim. Paypal ruled in his favor, because somehow he showed them a USPS receipt and said he shipped it. I dinged him with a negative and he emailed me several times each day asking me to change the feedback.

At first, he claimed that the package was at my post office and he'd tell me who to talk to, to retrieve it. But only if I changed his feedback immediately.

The next day, he told me that he spoke to my mailman, and the mailman had hidden it in my building, and if I changed his feedback, he would tell me where.

About 3 days later the item was delivered; apparently a PO glitch was responsible. It took almost a month, because he had sent the item ordinary cheapo ground mail with no tracking. This was not a one dollar item, and deserved a tracking receipt or UPS or some way to keep tabs on it.

A couple of days after that, on the day his request to change feedback was to expire (and after 27 harassing emails from him, and three complaints from me to eBay), he wrote me, saying that if I didn't change my feedback for him, he would have a friend in the neighborhood come into my building, retrieve the package from its hidey-hole, and mail it back to him, and I'd be out my item and the money I spent.

I wrote him back that he should send his imaginary friend to my office, instead, because the package was sitting on my sofa. No change of feedback, I told him, because he was an irritating little twerp.

Oddly, after a final total of 32 emails over an 8-day period, he never wrote me again after that...


But he continues to do business on eBay. Caveat emptor.

Jeff, instead his name choice shows a lack of imagination, or perhaps more possibly a wish to confuse the bidder (knowing how deviously this guy's mind operates). You, see, there's another, bigger, vendor who calls himself "fenderpartsreliable"!

Man, there's just nothing redeemable about this guy is there!?

As the saying goes, "there's something special about every one of God's creatures".

It all hangs on your interpretation of the word, "special", doesn't it?

I dunno... there are quite a few "creatures" out there that seem to have little to make me think God had anything to do with them...
