What you have is one of the rarest Rick Lap Steels.
What is even more interesting is the matching amp.
This model was discussed on this forum in 2005.

I've only seen photos of two of these in 20 years of collecting lap steels. Neither had the matching amp and both were quite beat looking.
This is a truly remarkable find.
Where and how did you come by it?

Thanks for the reply Richard. I came by the Wood Ricky outfit by chance I incorrectly spelt Rickenbacher as Richenbacker on a searh in Ebay and the person selling the outfit had listed it with the same incorrect spelling. Strangely no one else bid on it. I assume no one else saw the listing. Image ]Image The name on the back of the amp may be the original owner's name and maybe someone somewhere will know of him?ImageImage I believe this outfit to be very early as the amp has no volume or tone contol or even an on/off switch. PLUG AND PLAY? Image

Very COOL! 8) 8) 8)
I have a friend who's always searching for things using strange misspellings, he's often the only bidder. How fortunate for you that you happened to misspell it in just the right way! :D

Unless that's the rare re-issue in Montezuma Brown  ...that's the rarest thing I've seen. Nice look to it . Hope you enjoy many years, and get sounds you love from it.

Was this normal in the early days of amps? I can imagine someone saying, "Well, why would you need a volume knob on the amp? There's one on the guitar!" or something to that effect.
