Hello,
while i pine for the 350SH (i saw the one over on PotR for $six large!), i also just plain love the 350 shape.
unfortunately for me, I am also in love with the look of the body binding (the top binding, at least).
were there 350's made with binding that are available for less-than-astonishing prices?
cheers! apologies in advance for my lack of deep knowledge, here.

I had the good fortune to come by this one, not a V63 but a Liverpool transformed by luthier Larry Davis for a forumite:
350 Liverpool Custom
350 Liverpool Custom
It's double-bound -- the back-binding is plain not checkered.

That is a sweet looking guitar Ron. :D Larry did a great job as always.

Glad you like it. It has some other neat features, too. More pics here.

The back is just unbelievably beautiful Ron. What a job Larry did on that one. What colour was it originally?

I saw this one in person at MARF III. While the photography is stunning, it doesn't do true justice to this beauty. In person, this has to be one of the most beautiful guitars I have ever seen. The attention paid to the details by Larry on this guitar was pretty amazing. Even to the slightest rounding of the horns to accommodate the checkered binding so it would not distort visually on the points. Incredible work.

Congratulations Ron.

It was originally Mapleglo with black trim. I believe the flamed back was added by Larry.

I don't think one could go wrong ewith a Larry Davis conversion. I've seen a couple of 350 conversions he's done-very cool!!!

Larry converted my "Big Red" 365 WB from a plain jane Mapleglo 360 WB to a stunning "Santa-glo" fire engine red WB with full width inlays, bound fintage profile headstock, a real bone nut, a slightly modified 25" scale fretboard with medium tall frets (easy chord fretting, easy string bending! ), and he matched the vintage RI TRC with a set of clear, back painted guards. It's pretty much the only six string I play these days.

I want to buy a 350 and send it to Larry for similar treatment, but with an added, subtle German carved cap on the top similar to the Combo 850. The result would be something like the Polynesian, but with the cool skinny 60s headstock instead of the funky Combo style headstock. I'd put a Bigsby on it, medium tall frets, a 9 1/4" fretboard radius, and hot toasters. :)

I suggest shopping around for a 350, even if it's a bit worn/in need of some work, and sending it off to Larry to be reworked. That way you'll end up with the exact 350 you want. I doubt you would ever lose money on it if you decided to sell it at some point down the road.

I would be very surprised if you managed to get a bound 350 at that price.
