Greetings, Ric Freaks!

I just moved to the Portland, OR area from San Francisco. Before I made the move, I was fortunate to audition and get the gig as Little Beirut's bass player. They're soon releasing their 3rd album, Fear of Heaven. Some of you may know I've been obsessed with my 08 MID Ric (for good reason), so I'm proud to have a few seconds in LB's new video, "Last Light" (my Ric gets some good shots). Photog genius David Emmite directed the video, which contains some cool stop-motion stuff.

btw, great video, great song but most of all great bass sound !! truly !! i think i'll get myself a 4003 soon again ...

ps : are you playing with a pick in the recording ?

Congrats John! I really like it alot! Cool song. You're playing and tone is excellent, perfect in that song. Best of luck with this band. I'm a Little Beirut fan now. Looking forward to hearing more.

Thanks a lot, guys! I'm glad you all liked it. Though, I should have clarified this in the first post:

I didn't record the song--this was done before I joined the band. The recording was actually with a Fender P-bass. And yes, Edwin (lead guitar-turned bass player for the album) used a pick on the song. So, my appearance (and my Ric's) are video only. Though, when I play it with them, I use my fingers and get a great tone out of the Ric. They're cool with the sound I'm getting, as the Ric allows for that bite without a pick. (Sometimes, there simply isn't a substitute for a pick, however).

John, if you ever do re-record the song studio or live, I'd like to hear it.
Figures I'd like the tone even though it's a P-Bass. I do like P-Basses, that's why I keep one in the arsenal.

And that's why I'm REALLY looking forward to their fourth CD!

In the meantime, I'll make sure to get CD number three so that the chances of number four are increased.

Yeah, Joey...I like the Fender sound too. Will add one of those to the arsenal soon (after I procure a fretless Ric). We have a show planned in the Portland area soon, and it will be recorded both audio and video. I'll post it once that happens.

Thanks, Harley...very nice of you to say. I'm stoked to be in the band, for sure. And they LOVE my Ric, which makes it even sweeter.

Let me know when it is. I have some relatives in the Portland area and I can let them know to come out in support (or birhday and Christmas presents MAY be affected).
