Misc ramblings and a pic

Hi All,
As a newer member of the forum I've realized the importance of getting a picture or two of your Rickenbacker posted. With my digital camera MIA I've had to resort to a film camera, so this was my delay. Anyway here is a pic of the '89 4003s I purchased a couple of months ago from Bassman Bob (I believe he's know to the forum) for a very fair price on Ebay.
I absolutely love this bass! It replaces a 4001 I sold many years ago and have regretted ever since. As you can see by the photo I've begun switching out the black trim for white/chrome. With the assistance of Kenny at RIC I've changed the truss rod cover. Next the pickguard is off to Tony at Pickguardian to be duplicated in white. Then the chrome bits. But they may have to wait for finances to improve and I actually like the white plastic parts with the black metal parts. It's kind of an interesting variation. I know there is a lot of love here for Mapleglo with black trim but it's just not for me. I'm keeping the black trim so that someday, someone could switch it back but that'll be in another lifetime because I'm never letting this one go.
I've always loved the contoured body without binding and the dot inlays. I guess it's having been influenced by Paul McCartney and Roger Waters. That's not to say that I didn't love my '78 4001, I just would have purchased an s model had I'd been able to find one back in the day.
By the way, this forum was invaluable in helping me do my research before purchasing my new baby!
