450V63 - a few questions

I just picked up a new-old-stock 450V63; the serial dates to the last week of 1999:

The shop owner told me that Rickenbacker took orders for this reissue for just one week in 1999; was this by intent or were they limiting production to a particular number? He also told me that 80 of this model were built in total; is this correct?

My only complaint is that the set screws that hold up the saddle are too long, so I keep hitting my hand on them. Do they have the same thread as this screw available from Rickenbacker, and is there any reason why I can't swap them for shorter (1/2") screws?

Thanks!

Welome to then forum Noah. Yes you can replace the longer screws for slightly shorter ones of the same diameter and thread pitch. I am not sure of the number of this series produced but that may be available in the Registry. You may want to register this guitar.

Here's a thread with some production numbers for the 450V63 and 425V63 models, issued in both JG and BG: viewtopic.php?f=68&t=388943&p=541706&hi ... 63#p541706

I went to The Music Connection site but couldn't find that information. Perhaps it was given in connection with a guitar that has since been sold.

The info on the limited production window is correct. It was November of 1999, IIRC.

Judging from the examples on the Register, it was all happening in December 1999:

425V63

450V63

Something to do with Y2K, I guess.

That's sweet, Noah! Welcome to the forum! :) No reason not to swap those screws out for shorter ones.

Yeah, I can't get used to the finished fretboard, so it's on the block.
