Hello guitar tone experts. I am trying to get the guitar tone from the Traveling Wilburys "Handle With Care". The 'Harrison' slide tone is the one I'm looking to copy. Any ideas? I have a 360/6 and an older SG to work with, along with a bunch of pedals (dist, flange, chorus, compressor, etc.) and an amp/effects unit (POD xt). This is the one area in particular where I have very little experience. Thanks. Tom

FWIW, I think Mike Campbell used a Gretsch White Falcon or a Gibson Melody maker when he played at the 30th Anniv TPATH concert.

I seem to remember there were a bunch of Gretsches being handed around when the Wilbury's first formed up. So I guess you start with a Gretsch?

Mike used a '61 Strat in custom color black through for all three available recordings of the Heartbreakers' version of HWC. These recordings are "Concert for George" (Nov. 29, '02), "Soundstage" (April '03) and "Runnin' Down a Dream Disc 3" (Sept 21, '06, 30th Anni. show, video below). Amps were a Blackface Deluxe Reverb for CFG, while the latter two featured a Princeton Reverb. Effect sounds like compression.

The original Wilbury recording also features George on a '57 Strat, I believe, but the video says differently, he uses a promotional budget TW Gretsch.

Use a single coil pickup - roll off some tone and add compression.
