Active or not?

Concerning Chris's other basses, Moradian, Tobias, Ranney ect... are they all wired passive or are they active electronics.?
Seems I read somewhere that they were all passive so they would work well with his amp settings.

Stumped me on this one, Scott, although I spoke to Jim Maroudian a few years back about Chris's custom basses. He described the pickups as EMG's with mid scoops in the bridge position for nice low end with a high end crunch. That sounds like active circuitry to me, but I could be wrong.
Jim's a nice guy, still fixing guitars at his shop in Cambridge but, alas, has no plans to build any more basses in the future. I had called him to get information on the Reality Bass that Chris uses, but apparently only fifteen of those were ever built.
As for the others, anyone?

Just curious. You dont read much about Squire's rig accept for the 2 ampegs, and the Marshall. He has an SWR but uses it for the bass pedals.
Seems like he'd have something seperate for the "active" basses. Maybe there's a processor in there somewhere that pads the input.

i know his white mpc electra with modules was active. this bass crashed at the toronto drama gig. he tried to fix it on stage but was a no go. the grill in the floor opened on the round stage, down went the mpc and up came the rick and the house went nuts ! got that show on tape...trevor's voice was already blown out from rehearsals.
