Hey Folks..we are refinishing a 360/6 mapleglo,,and would like to change the white body binding with the nicer black/white binding like the one on the Roger Mcguinns.370/12 mapleglo..I am sure Paul could answer this one very easly....I have already stripped all the CV off the guitar,,and now would be the time to do this..how do I safely get the old binding off? and where do I purchase the new Black/White binding in the correct size? Paul can I buy some from you Please? Larry

It sounds like you're talking about the checkerboard stuff...I get mine from RIC and in very limited supply, so would not be able to sell any.

It does turn up on Ebay from time to time at "enhanced" prices, so I suppose that's your best bet.

You are aware that you'll have to cut an additional rabbet on the back with router and special bit, that the checkerboard binding fits into?

Paul...the 360 has the factory binding on it now,,its the white stuff..do I need to cut an additional track into it for the checkerboard to fit in..I thought that I could remove the old binding,,clean up the route track and reinstall the new checkerboard binding..what di you think my freind...Larry

You'll need a double rabbet like this:

The narrow checkerboard purfling fits into the inner one:

Then the wider white outer binding fits into the usual place in the rabbet that's already routed:

If you're talking about using checkerboard purfling as your outer binding without routing the second rabbet, it's too narrow and won't fill the binding groove properly.
