Carl Wilson's 360-12 ?

hi all,
recently I've been watching early videos of live performances by The Beach Boys, which I imagine are from 1962 thru 1965, being that most are in black and white film, including the tv appearances.

In a few of those videos I noticed Carl Wilson playing a 360-12 like George Harrison's 360-body style.

However, Rickenbacker issued a Carl Wilson Model which is like Roger McGuinn's 360-body style.

Why would that be, when the early videos clearly show a 360-12 similar to George Harrison's ?

thanks for any insight.

Jos: Carl Wilson played more than one model Rickenbacker, both old style and new style, with the Beach Boys. There are a few here. The one chosen as the Signature model by RIC is perhaps most representative and I expect was based on their research.

Peter, thank you for the link.

yes I see he played both styles. The photo shown in your link showing him "rehearsing for Shindig", looks like an "F" hole 360-12 model, a British model (Rose Morris).

A prototype 1993 with a dot neck, trapeze tail and silver knobs that stayed in the US. The new-style 360/12 is what he's famous for.

I still think it would be a great idea for Rickenbacker to release a LTD run of a CW 1993 12 string .
And it would be good for the Carl Wilson Trust too.

I second that, but I also think the "cat's eye" looks more "Rickenbacker" than a "F" hole. Although I think it was Gretsch who invented the cat's eye.

Yes... George got the second Rickenbacker 360/12 ever made... Number one went to a female American guitarist whos name I've forgot.
Oh Suzi Arden it was...
