Hi everybody. Last week I had a very pleasant email exchange with Carla Olson. I encourage you to google her now and find out about her if you're not yet familiar.
She provided me with this info about a custom Rickenbacker that was stolen 30 years ago. I told her I could post it here, you never know:
Hi Jason,
Not mine, no. Signature is close though.
fyi - I had an azure glow checkerboard binding 620 / 6 custom build Rickey that was stolen 20+ years ago that I would like to find!
thanks for thinking of me.
& best regards
Carla
Thanks very much for the quick response! If you'd like, I can post this text on http://www.rickresource.com in hopes of locating your lost guitar. RRF is ... popular Rick-related website, with a very active and friendly forum. We've even recovered a few stolen instruments!
A custom build one-of-a-kind azure glow checkerboard binding 620 / 6 Rickey.
The Dot magnet pickups that were stock were replaced by Seymour Duncan with 60s bar magnet pickups.
The guitar can be seen on the cover of the 1984 Textones "Midnight Mission" album and CD releases.
(If I could include a photo of the album cover I would... there's also a photo of me with it in a book the title of which I can't think of this moment..)
Guitar was stolen apx 30 years ago from SIR (Studio Instrument Rentals, Hollywood, CA.)
If anyone has any information on this instrument, please let me know and we'll get the wheels turning. Cheers! J
