50st anniversary of the Beatles´ arrival in Hamburg

Post by doctorno »

Today the media in Germany is reminding of the 50st anniversary of the Beatles´ arrival in Hamburg. This morning the "Deutschlandfunk" (a public radio station) broadcasted an interesting feature including an old interview in which a stupid interviewer tells Paul: "Viele Menschen denken ja, sie machen gar keine Musik, sondern eher Lärm." ("Many people think you are not making music at all but rather just noise.") Paul answers in German: "Ist nicht wahr. Ist Musik - nicht wie Beethoven - aber Musik." ("Not true - it´s music - not like Beethoven - but music.")

The Deutschlandfunk also broadcasted a live interview with Horst Fascher (manager of the former Star Club) this morning, which was quite interesting:

The newspapers are also covering the subject, for example the "Kölner Stadtanzeiger":

And there is a very interesting page with articles, videos and pictures on the website of the NDR - the public TV-station for the north of Germany:
