Here's a new collaboration with Wade Mosher, with some very cool piano work by Steve Soucy. Wade plays all the other instruments, and I'm on the vocals. Kind of an epic, this one. We'll chop it down into shorter versions too, but this is the long version, in the venerable tradition of 70's album rock, in which DJs used to be able to smoke a whole cigarette and still go to the bathroom. Not really sure what to do with this beast, but it sure was fun to make. Any comments or suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Hipster
I remember you from the Ambassador Hotel
You were a picture perfect mess, and you really wore it well
When you trashed the band at midnight
Before the last farewell was through
All the casual pretenders fell away to something new
You always stood out on the edge
But it cut you in the end
Left bleeding for a song that would help to make amends
But the days passed by in silence
There's always something left to lose
Like the chronic ache and memories of those faces you once knew
And the band played the song on a New Year's Eve day
Another year gone, a time fades away
And the band played along to the promises made
We try our best just to be strong
Every hipster has his day
It was 25 below and EMS were in high gear
Nothing could penetrate that cold except the cigarettes and beer
And when they pulled you from the wreckage
You saw the bodies lying there
And you've been numb for twenty years now
Rollin' round inside that chair
As the band plays the song on a New Year's Eve day
Another year gone, a time fades away
And the band played along to the promises made
We try our best just to be strong
Every hipster has his day
Every hipster has his day
Every hipster has his day
