What a great sounding band. Thanks for posting that Jim.

Great "California Country"! That's the great John Jorgenson playing the Ricky 12. I guarantee one of the signatures is Jim/Roger McGuinn. John played in his band when he toured behind "Back From Rio". He can be seen in the live Youtube video of "King of the Hill; although not on a Rick. John lost most of his personal collection; including several Ricks, in the Nashville floods and is one of the curators of the restoration project.
The Desert Rose Band play some of the best Country/Rock, Country Pop around. Other notable country artists using Ricks-and profiled in this Forum-Mary Chapin Carpenter and The Mavericks.
Here's my favorite DRB clip (sorry, no Ricks). Of course Emmylou Harris doing Gregorian chants would make my personal Top 10.

There's a band I had not heard anybody mention for a long long time. I saw the Flying Burrito Brothers play in Bothel Wa. in the late 60's.

Chris Hillman was in The Burritos, but no one else that I know of. J. D. Maness played Steel in The DRB; Sneaky Pete in the Burritos.
Shortly after my wife bought my Blonde SJ-200 for my birthday, Chris Hillman's Cherry Red SJ-200 12-string came up for sale on Craigslist. I would have love to grab that!
A couple of years ago, we saw Hillman and Herb Pederson do an acoustic show. We had a table dead-center, right in front of the stage. They put on a great show. Hillman is a San Diego boy, and was a hot mandolinist before switching to bass in The Byrds.

You're thinking of Chris Hillman. And yes, he was in both bands, as well as playing in Manassas with Stephen Stills.

Sometime in the '70s, maybe after Manassas IIRC he teamed up with Roger McGuinn and Gene Clark in a trio called McGuinn, Clark & Hillman.

Chris and Herb Pedersen are still playing occasional gigs together.

I found this live version of Summer Wind. How cool is that Blue Boy 3 pickup 450/12 with oven knobs and the amp in matching colour ? Great sound !

Chris also teamed up with Richie Furay and J. D. Souther on two records as The Souther Hillman Furay Band.
