Has anyone read/purchased this book? It looks like it may be interesting. I just really hate TABS. They were once very helpfull to me, but I later realized that the teach you nothing. My new strategy is to learn the chords of songs and try to walk between them.

I share your distaste for tabs. At best, all they teach you is how to read tablature. At worst....well.....

I am not a fan of tabs either. They only point a seeker in a general direction and quite often they are completely wrong. I much prefer learning by ear or if I am forced to reading the sheet music, albeit slowly.

I do find tab very helpful at times, when I can't figure a bass part out by ear, especially when the bass is low in the mix.

The blokes in this video seem to do alright by tab... or as they call them, the "dots"!
