Hey,
Does anyone know where I can find a set of Grover Wavy tuners for a 1973 Rickenbacker 4001 ? I also could use a neck pickup, bridge cover, and the two thumb screws that go in the bridge.

Welcome to the forum, Lee.
What month is your '73? Is the original neck pickup a hi gain or toaster? If you want a pickup and cover that was made at that time, you'll have to keep checking ebay, unless there's a forumite with these parts to sell.
If you don't care about when the parts were made, you can always order them from RIC The thumbscrews for the bridge mute assembly have always been the same.

Have your wavy Grover tuners come apart? They can be repaired as long as you have all the parts.

Thanks Joey!
I appreciate the information. My 4001 is a "MH", which I understand to be a August 1973.
I have really enjoyed this bass, and I would really like to restore it back to the original specks (or as close as practical).

The previous owner changed the tuners out a long time ago with 1 Aria Pro tuner and 3 Shaller tuners. They all look about the same size, but they are too long for the 4001. Even though they were a poor fit, the ingenious previous owner used his MacGyver skills and attached rectangular wooden shims to the underside of the peghead. I think he used the original screw holes, but I haven't checked. The tuners work well, but it’s kind of a downer to see the wrong tuners in it.... He also put in a Seymour Duncan Rickenbacker style pickup in the neck, which I would like to change out. Thank you for the information on the screws.

I also have a '73 from August. Yes, MH is August '73.
Mine is the only 4001 from August '73 that we have seen so far with checkered binding, so we'll want to know if yours has checkered or regular binding. Mine has a toaster pickup. The hi gain pickups appeared in the neck position of the 4001 later in '73, so you'll want to put a toaster pickup in the neck position if you want your 4001 the way it was when it was new. Good luck finding the wavy Grovers. They are out there. They periodically appear on ebay.

Post a picture of your 4001. If you need help with that, just ask.

Don't forget to check the "for sale" section (periodically, if not every day!) and post in the "wanted" section! There might be a certain number of posts you need in order to see that section so post lots, especially pictures!

Cool. My 4001 has the regular non checkered binding. It's a maple glow and I will have to post some pictures soon.
