That was
my reaction, too. What's this, the
third re-release?
OK, the extras are probably worth it, but I'd really like to see a re-release of something that hasn't been available in
any form for some time.
Rockshow?

Did Paul's 4001 make it to Lagos? My friend said that he may have used the Fender Jazz so he wouldn't expose the 4001 to the climate. What do yo guys think of that? its an interesting point.

Hey Brian, the only pics I've seen of those sessions show him playing an upside down Jazz.

The Jazz is all I have seen too, Andy, which is why I was asking. Does anyone think the 4001 made it to Lagos. I'm thinking it didn't.

McCartney,
My "least" favorite Beatle, with some of my most hated Beatles Songs. However, my favorite solo work, and Band On The Run, my favorite solo album. He taught me to give 2 a chance.
reasons for least favorite--
a face she keeps in a jar by the door...argh!
Why don't we do it in the road...argh!
She's Leaving Home...argh!
Blackbird...argh!
Oh blah dee...can't even get myself to type it...argh!
reasons for most favorite--
I Saw Her Standing There
Uncle Albert
Band On The Run minus Picasso's Last Words
...wisdom through patience

Well, I thought about editing your post for brevity, but I suppose it makes more sense to leave it all for context. Certainly I can't argue with your opinion, since that would make no sense, but I'd sleep better if I could at least respond to a few of your statements.
1. I agree that Paul did some great solo work, as you've cited. There are a few more I'd add (Junior's Farm; Too Many People; Monkberry Moon Delight, as examples), but OK.
2. reasons for least favorite--
a face she keeps in a jar by the door...argh!
Pure surrealism; something Paul was dabbling in in the 1965-66 London scene - I think it brings Andre Breton and Georges Bataille to mainstream R&R. Not such a bad thing in my book.
Why don't we do it in the road...argh! -
Acknowledged by John as one of Paul's best songs in the Bealtes.
She's Leaving Home...argh! -
A social commentary long before these came into vogue. Prescience?
Blackbird...argh! -
Another social commentary on racism in the US.
Oh blah dee...can't even get myself to type it...argh! -
the verson on the White Album is annoying. Listen to the Anthology Version and Paul's great bassline and the horns, along with great acoustic guitars. I grant you that Paul chose the wrong version. If he had his way, he'd still be overdubbing this or doing it anew.
Now, I consider Paul to be my favorite member of the Beatles for one simple reason:
He created a new concept of bass for the rest of us. If you asked me what my favorite Bealtes songs are, 17 or 18 of my top 20 would be John songs. But if you asked me who pushed music to a new level in a time when change was hip? McCartney all the way brother. Just put headphones on and listen to the bass parts on
With a Little Help From My Friends,
Rain,
While My Guitar Gently Weeps and
I Want You.

Perhaps someone can enlighten me here - Editing posts for "brevity"? It didn't seem too long to me.
