and i was grumbling because its been foggy and raining its butt off here today (its about 2 monthes early)----thanks for putting some perspec on that,cj.

Yeah, I think the tomatoes are toast, so to speak. It's supposed to get down to freezing tonight.

Oh, and it's MID September! This has been a very cool, wet summer here in N. Montana. Usually, we have pretty hot weather up until early October. It's not doing the farmers any favors here this year. I'm so glad I'm not farming this year, I would have lost my @ss this year (well even worse than last year ).

As for there being no snow by moving south, well, no such luck, we're moving from 2300ft to 4200ft in the mountains, so there WILL be snow. But being a few hundred miles south means the weeks of -40F turn to days. There will be more snow since it won't just all blow away like it does here in Malta, MT, but I can deal with that...

Well I could brag and say that here in Edmonton, we will go four to five months with temps that reach -50 with the wind chill..but I guess that aint much to brag about. The upside is that there are no lawns to cut, no kids to take to outdoor sports, just stay in the house, keep warm and practise practise practise. Then do a New Years or Halloween gig and load in out at 2 in the morning when its oh 20 -30 below zero..... if we're lucky!

Wind chill, yeah right! Yeah, you're a bit further North, but there's plenty of wind here too, as well as the low temps. I mean, heck, Edmonton's record low is -46.1C, a mere -50.98F. The record low for Malta, MT is -56F, or -48.89C...

Well, toasting can be done to many things, including fruit...


Of course, I prefer toasting with fermented fruit... Well, the juice anyway...

Yeah but thats a rarity...we have stretches of sub -25 for weeks on end and for the record the coldest overall temperature recorded in Edmonton was −49.4 °C (−56.9 °F), on January 19 and 21, 1886.[49]

Sounds like pretty similar weather then. But is it snowing there yet?

No, snow as in that white, cold stuff.

And yeah, I lived in So. Cal a long time ago, in the '60s. As for moving back, ain't gonna happen. I just don't see the attraction, well, mostly it's just too hard to see 'em through all the detractions...
