i want to put new strings on my 620 SIX-string Rick. I would like to put the heaviest strings on it that won't hurt the guitar. I don't want to damage the guitar in any way but also i love heavy strings. What brand and gauge should i get. thanks a lot for saving my guitar.

put the biggest you want on it .

The truss rod issue is of older (pre-1984 basses)the guitars use the same rods ,but don't really have the problems that the basses do/did.

If a 12 string with the same neck can hold that tension ....how much difference is a set of 'big' strings?

Go to the D'addario site for this info ...it's on their string packs ,I bet it's posted.
I bet their 12 set is heavier than a set of .056 to .013 with a wound G string.

I've got .053 or .054s on my '93 650 Dakota. No problems whatsoever. BTW, mine 650 was an early example, it only has 1 trussrod.Image
