Sounds like they still have it. That is one song of theirs I liked - then and now. Interesting a 4005 is used. Same as was recorded back in the day??

See my posting under "Two Car Garage". I missed that 4005 and ended up posting a "posed" video from back in the day. Cool find-Thanks!

One of THE most underrated bands from the '60's. Does anyone else in the UK appreciate this band?

Bob Cowsill is a very talented guy.
When I lived in Redondo Beach, he played several area venues with Pete Bunch as a duo and also as a 5-piece. They covered a wide range and Bob's voice handled the vocal duties extremely well.
Brother Barry was a casualty of Hurricane Katrina. His body was found months after the hurricane hit.

I'm in total agreement with the 'talented guy' assessment of Bob Cowsill. The Cowsills had great harmonies that would rival the Beach Boys, Association, or Mama's & Papa's. They were considered a novelty act though, which both shot them to fame and doomed them to a fairly short shelf life. There are a pair of tunes on "Global" that are among my all-time favorite songs. I'd read at one point that they were the model for the Partridge Family TV show.

Interesting link. Apparently Hair was 52 takes:

Shirley Jones had already been signed to play the Mom. The Cowsill kids were considered for the kids parts, but ultimately rejected because a)They had no training as actors, and B) They wanted their REAL Mom to play herself.

Susan Cowsill went on as well to enjoy a somewhat successful career in music including some indirect Ric connections. She was in the band Continental Drifters which included members Vickie Peterson of The Bangles and dbs member (and sometimes REM touring member) Peter Holsapple, whom she was married to. I had the honor of being in a band that warmed up for them at a gig in Chicago in the '90s. I still listen to their excellent cd that I bought at that gig.

Thanks for that update on Susan byu. I honestly think that if they hadn't been treated as a "novelty" act, that they had the talent to go beyond where they went!

Anyone know who played bass on the recording of "Hair?"
