From Sgt. Pepper’s cover to The Defiant Ones… not too bad for a Bronx tailor's kid.

He was a great one. It's too bad that the academy never saw it that way but his list of movie credits speak for themselves. Some Like it Hot was one of his best IMO.
Of course his female fans adored him. All in all his career was very notable. He admitted to the press later on in life (after his struggles with drugs and alcohol were behind him) that even though he had never won any awards, that it was not a bad career for a Jewish kid from the Bronx.
R.I.P. Tony.

Shame, very cool, very good looking, great films - loved the great race and the sixties ones.

When real guys go, it's sad, unfair and simply wrong... R.I.P., mr Curtis.
As far as Oscars go — sometimes i wonder whether the sign of being really great is being considered by people as somebody who definitely deserves a few Oscars, having been nominated but never getting the "golden guy"... or maybe not even having been nominated at all.

What a great character, and one of the larger than life figures who always was entertaining.
Peace.

He was refered to and immortalized in 'The Flintstones' as 'Stony Curtis',....'nuff said!

Every time he was onscreen, his charisma came through. He was just fun to watch. Whether it was the cheesy Houdini or the great Some Like it Hot, he was great. Three of my favorites are Blake Edwards' The Great Race (also with Jack Lemmon), Operation Petticoat, and Those Daring Young Men and Their Jaunty Jalopies. All of them are fun.
