Heard about this recently on an episode of This American Life that aired earlier in the year. John Flansburgh of They Might Be Giants explained the real story to host Ira Glass and I googled it myself and found it on snopes - very interesting reading. I never knew this, just thought it was (the common misperception) an example of rock start diva-ness. But it's not!
