Anyone else got one of these? Would be fun to discuss. I can't believe the horseshoe still works! But I shouldn't be surprised, given all the older lapsteels that still work and are also all original.

How well does it play?

Well, the neck is pretty straight but has lifted a touch. I tune it down a whole step and it's playable again. I used it on a recording once - a cover of "Black Velvet" for a local horn section's demo. Through a '65 Gretsch 6150T amp it got a really cool sound! But I have to admit it's not my favorite one to play. It barely gets out of the case, actually. Kinda sad. I'm teetering on unloading it. I pulled the recent ebay auction mainly because more stuff than I expected was selling and I didn't want to try scaring up extra boxes. But I could totally let this go. In fact, I'm currently trying to work a deal with a dealer (non-Rick related deal) to get something really cool he has that I've wanted for a while.
The horseshoe pickup on this totally works, but the shoes don't attract metal. What does that mean?

As you know I was on the brink of selling my 4005WB as it, too, does not get much playing time. I don't know for sure about the horseshoes but it may not need much of a charge to work.
