Paint Swirl .. Mid blue

I just got a used 620.12 from craigslist here in Portland.. .

nice condition. made in 2000... so I went for it. ( Pictures soon.. )

It's got slight swirl on the top from what would appear to be wiping with a dry cloth..

Can the finish be rubbed out to reduce that ? Any advice as to what to use and how to approach it . appreciated!
tnx.
Mark

Here's pics.. but they don't capture the pronounced slight swirls/scratches on the top surface.. and what looks like a slight fading on the upper bout ( where the right arm would hit the guitar while playing )

I don't want to get too aggressive ie: a rubbing compound. but hoping someone will have some experience with if or how I can do some buffing to restore the finish as much as possible.

tnx.

Meguiar's Scratch-X or Swirl-X, IIRC-Scratch X might not be available anymore, followed by Zymoel wax should take it out. Once in awhile there's a weird reaction between a guitar's finish and a person's body chemistry so that more aggressive treatment is needed, but that's rare, and I've only seen that on older finishes.

Thank you for the recommendations.

I also see over at the RIC forum.. numerous mentions of the Meguiars Scratch-X.. and references to Zymol ( the "cleaner/wax" in the light blue bottle )

I'll look here in my area for these. .and hopefully this will really improve the finish..

and I'll post "after" pics.

I'm not positive on this one, but I think that the Scratch-X formula has changed such that it is too abrasive. I believe the Swirl-X is now recommended instead. Check with Paul Wilczynski over in the Curmudgeon section.

and thanks to the Rick Resource Forum.. I've compiled my RIC care kit...

I'm here in the Portland, OR area..

Paul apparently most recently favors: NuFinish Scratch Doctor. Available at Walgreens in the Auto care dept. $12

Zymol cleaner wax ( Zymoel ) . Had to call around, but a very well stocked ACE hardware in Forest Grove had ONE bottle. $20

Gerber 100% cotton FLAT diapers ( note: most are pre-sewn/folded into diaper, but they had ONE package of the Flat ones.. .. ) one package available at local Target: $14 for 6 diapers ( they are huge: 24" x 27" each .. ) Will launder those today. to get 'em ready.

Will try to get better pictures of the finish issues I'm trying to resolve. then "after" photos...
