New oldtimer back

Hello all,

I used to participate in this forum back in 2000-2003. My username was seagreen4003 back then so I was able to recoup this username when I reregistered today.

Yes, by my username, I do own one of the 2000 COY Sea Green 4003 basses. I bought it online in November of 2000 from The Guitar Hanger. I gigged with it pretty extensively from 2000-2004, then put it away when I stopped playing in bands and focused on home recordings as a singer-songwriter. Lately, I've been working on a recording project with some old bandmates when I decided to pull the old RIC out of the closet to record with. It sounded fantastic as always, and is still in pretty much mint condition.

I've lurked on here from time to time in the past few years, searching for the term "sea green" just to see who had these elusive models. Anyway, looking forward to taking in the conversations. My avatar has a tiny picture of my Sea Green 4003, as soon as I upload my picture to a photo site I'll post a better pic.

I wonder why your post number is only one if this is the same username as before.

Welcome back to the forum, Mike. Looking forward to you pictures. We don't get to see Sea Green often enough!

It possible that Mike's post count might have gone back to zero because when the forum changed to the new format a few years ago, several of us had a post count drop of up to several hundred.

Not many of those Sea Green 4003's around. There are 3 registered here (plus a re-fin and a 4003S/5):

You know what, maybe my old username was 4003seagreen? I just tried logging in using 4003seagreen and it said it was not possible to update my password when upgrading the board's software, so that old one may still exist but I would need for it to be reset? No worries, I'll just keep this one.

There are also a couple of 4001V63s in the register in Sea Green, and a couple more older models that were refinished in SG. Here's a shot of my 4003 and Steve Woods' V63:

I found my original entry, I sent these to Peter McCormack way back in 2000 or so...

I've viewed those pictures many times lurking over the years. Both are beauties. I remember when TSarter was originally selling that V63, I think he wanted something like $2,400 for it but I ended up passing at the time. Should've jumped on it. Oh well, I really love my 4003. Anyone have any idea how much a Sea Green 4003 would go for these days? (Not that I'm looking to sell, I'm hanging onto this one).

Well, "these days" is the trick. Just a few years ago, before the "economic downturn," rare colors and models were boosting the prices pretty high. I paid well in excess of $3gs for mine on a private sale. Olivia's Vintage has had another SG V63 that they have been asking around $4500 for with no sale. It's now a buyer's market, so a seller has to be more realistic about prices if he intends to move the item.

I remember you and I also had a sea green 4003 which I sold to Paul Boyer a few years back. I miss it it was a nice bass, I hope Paul's enjoying it.
