Have been busy doing some major cleaning and decluttering, and in the depths of a closet I found this picture of Phil Keaggy which I had cut from a late-80's issue of a Campus Life magazine years ago.... A nice pic of him with what appears to be a mapleglo 360 and an AC30. Does anyone know which, if any, of his recordings feature this guitar? Just curious. I've always liked Phil Keaggy, but wasn't aware that he he had used a Ric!

I have never seen him play a Rick over the years that I have seen him (starting in Spring '71); he did have a AC-30, along with his usual Twin Reverb Amp, when I saw Glass Harp this past Summer, though.

the album "Sunday's Child" has that guitar all over it....it is on iTunes as well!!!!

Great! I'll have to go to iTunes and check it out--I'm sure it will be awesome to hear Phil Keaggy play a Ric!

Okay.... I just bought the album "Sunday's Child" on iTunes.... After listening to the previews and reading the review I realized that I simply must have it. The album was released in 1988, which is probably about when the picture appeared in the magazine, so that makes sense. According to the review, Phil and his band were trying to replicate the sound of a 60's pop album, using all vintage guitars and amps from that era--How cool is that? I missed this album when it came out, because at the time I was a poor college student, and every cent I earned went to pay for my education.... and at that point in my life I wouldn't have known or cared what a Rickenbacker was, LOL! However, when I was culling old magazines a few years ago, I remember clipping that picture out and filing it away.... I just rediscovered it a couple of days ago!

I have had a variety of conversations with the musicians who played on the record...it was entertaining discussion.

I'm really loving this album--have listened to it a few times in the last couple of days.... You're right Jaymi, I can hear the Ric all over the place in many of the tracks. I especially like the last one, a song with the rather heavy-sounding title, "Talk About Suffering." It sounds like an old spiritual, but with a heavenly Byrds-style 12-string jangle throughout. I just may have to figure out how to play that one myself, and do it in church sometime--I absolutely love it.
